Assistant Principal Susan Rawlings

It is with great pride and pleasure to serve as assistant principal at Pinehurst Elementary. I am originally from Abbeville, SC. I graduated from The University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education. I earned a Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision from Southern Wesleyan University and a Gifted and Talented certification from The College of Charleston. Prior to becoming assistant principal at Pinehurst, I have served Charleston County in a variety of capacities including kindergarten and first grade teacher, school based reading coach, district instructional specialist for elementary schools, ELA coordinator, Director of Literacy, and Director of Teaching and Learning.
I believe every decision in education should begin with what is best for students. I am committed to a student-centered approach that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of every learner. My goal is to help create engaging learning environments where all students feel valued, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential.
Strong partnerships with families are essential to student success. I believe open communication and collaboration between schools and families build a supportive community that helps students thrive both in and out of the classroom.
My leadership philosophy is rooted in servant leadership. I strive to support students, teachers, and families by listening, building relationships, and working to remove barriers to success. I am also committed to fostering an inclusive school environment where every individual feels respected, welcomed, and safe.
Please do not hesitate to reach out, I am here to support you in any way I can!
